BSC Awards Level 2 Certificate in Supervising Staff Safely
oasys have received accreditation for the BSC Awards Level 2 Certificate in Supervising Staff Safely, and are currently in the process of applying for accreditation to present the Level 2 Certificate in Risk Assessment.
The Supervising Staff Safely qualification has been specifically designed to meet the needs of today's line managers and supervisors in the workplace.
The Certificate in Risk Assessment provides formal recognition of an employee's ability to undertake a suitable and sufficient risk assessment.
Both qualifications are based on the national occupational standards for health and safety and are accredited by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) for inclusion in the National Qualifications Framework.
David Ballard, Chief Executive of the BSC, says:
"Health and safety is a key aspect of corporate life, and the health and safety sector needs to continue to improve in everything it does. These new, nationally recognised, qualifications build on the BSC Awards Diploma and Certificate that were successfully launched earlier in the year. They can help to underpin a process of continuous improvement in the workplace - enabling the UK to maintain its position as a world leader in health and safety." |

Don’t overlook the recent changes to the CoSHH and Noise Regulations, plus the introduction of the Vibration at Work Regulations.
CoSHH Regulations.
The introduction of Workplace Exposure Limits (WEL’s), is intended to gradually replace the older and more difficult to apply Maximum Exposure limits (MEL’s) and Occupational Exposure Standards (OES’s). These changes are long overdue and will hopefully generate greater compliance and thereby safeguard more people from ill health as a consequence of workplace exposure to hazardous substances.
oasys is encouraging all its customers to carry out a fundamental review of all their CoSHH risk assessments in light of these changes.
Please visit http://www.hse.gov.uk/coshh/index.htm for further information.
The Noise at Work Regulations have changed to reflect the thinking of the scientific community regarding what level of noise is considered to be harmful. The changes to what were considered to be acceptable levels of noise exposure are significant. The new exposure levels effectively reduce the older limits by half.
oasys is encouraging all its customers to carry out a fundamental review of all their activities where noise is either an issue or borderline at the old levels in light of these changes.
Please visit http://www.hse.gov.uk/noise/index.htm for further information.
The introduction of the Vibration at Work Regulations is a significant step toward safeguarding those members of the national workforce who may routinely be exposed to whole body or hand arm vibration.
Please visit http://www.hse.gov.uk/vibration/index.htm for further information.
Employers should review their activities and equipment to satisfy themselves that sufficient safeguards exist regarding compliance with the new regulations.
