Course duration: one dayDo you use contractors? This course is suitable for anyone with organisational responsibilities for the appointment or management of contractors. For many reasons, organisations of all sizes constantly outsource non-core business activities to contractors, an approach that has a number of advantages. It is essential however that contractors are used and managed within the context of an effective management system that takes account of legal requirements and best practice. The House of Lords decision in respect of R v Associated Octel, where Octel unsuccessfully appealed against a Section 3 prosecution (Health and Safety at Work Act) has meant that this has now become a difficult area for employers / clients. Our Contract Control course offers practical guidance from specialists on how to ensure legal compliance without becoming wholly liable for the negligence of contractors. Guidance will be given on the requirements of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, the Construction (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1996 and the Confined Spaces Regulations 1997. On completion of the course the delegates will have knowledge and understanding of the selection, management and control of contractors on their sites. As with all our training courses, this course can be tailored to suit organisational requirements.
