National General Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health

Course duration: 12 days, plus exams

A well established course providing delegates with a thorough grounding in the principles and practices of professional occupational health and safety.

The NEBOSH Certificate is the most widely recognised qualification for specialist and non-specialist staff who have operational responsibility for health and safety. NEBOSH qualifications in health and safety are recognised worldwide by employers in all industry sectors, making the Certificate an ideal introduction for those intending to develop a career in health and safety.

The qualification is divided into 3 units, each of which is assessed separately:

• Unit 1 Management of Health & Safety, comprising;

Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and other legislation, risk assessment and management regulations, policies, principles of control, promoting a positive health and safety culture and accident investigation.

• Unit 2 Controlling Workplace Hazards, comprising;

Occupational health, construction and machinery hazards, fire safety, manual handling and ergonomics, electrical safety, noise and vibration.

• Unit 3 Health & Safety Practical Application

A supervised practical assessment.

On conclusion of the course delegates will have improved knowledge and understanding of health and safety management, and will be able to manage their organisational health and safety issues in a more proactive and practical way.

NEBOSH National General Certificate is accredited at Level 3. Successful completion of the Certificate with five years health and safety experience provides candidates with eligibility to apply for TechIOSH (Technician membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health).

To qualify for the National Certificate, delegates must pass both written examinations, and the practical test, which involves a site inspection and compilation of a report.

A NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health is awarded to all those who attend the course and successfully complete the written and practical assessments.

As with all our courses, this course can be tailored to suit organisational requirements, for instance the course can be spread over a convenient time span, such as over ten consecutive days, or one, two, or three days per week.
