This course is used to raise awareness of the hazards & risks associated with working at heights, including the selection and use of suitable access equipment, pre-use equipment checks of harnesses and fall arrest equipment.
The programme is suitable for technicians and operatives and their immediate supervisors or team leaders.

The size of the problem nationally within the industry

The hazards and risks associated with working at height and the hierarchy of control demanded of the controlling legislation

Safe use of ladders and platforms, including how to recognize and report defects.

Legal requirements for anchorage points, including temporary or fixed safety lines.

Lanyards and harnesses, including how to fit their equipment effectively and how to care for their equipment to ensure maximum safeguard.

How to recognize defects, the significance of the defect and how to replace defective equipment.
On conclusion of the course

Delegates will have knowledge & understanding of the hazards & risks associated with working at heights, current legislation and fall prevention strategies.

Be able to select the most appropriate access equipment for their own work activity.

Be able to satisfy themselves that the selected equipment is serviceable and know how to report and replace defective equipment.
